Characterised by tree-fringed fairways and impeccably manicured greens, the stylish club has been a mainstay of Inverness’ golfing scene since it was established in 1883. Originally designed by George Smith and JJ Fraser, but since given a facelift by one-time Open champion James Braid, the course is challenging enough for experienced golfers, but also forms the perfect setting for novices to sharpen their skills. When you’ve tired of knocking a ball about, you can retreat to the comfort of the Clubhouse, whose well-lit lounge boasts splendid views of the course and surrounding environs. There’s also a fully-stocked Pro Shop, where you can pick up the new Callaway Big Bertha, or choose from a range of clothing and accessories. Professional tuition is also available, whether you’re looking to increase your yardage from a drive or iron out the kinks in your putting.
